About the Friends of the Buckeye Lake Library

Since the Buckeye Lake Branch of the Licking County Library System opened its doors in 2005 we have experienced growth on a steady basis in the numbers of patrons holding cards, books and materials borrowed, participation in reading and other library activities and in computer usage. In fact, we outgrew our space and moved to a new, 3,000 square foot space located at 4455 Walnut Rd. (Rt. 79) in Buckeye Lake complete with a pirate and boat in the children’s reading area.

The Friends group has provided money to pay the operating costs of the library (rent, utilities, insurance, etc.) through a variety of fund-raisers designed to integrate our library into the lives of the community and to raise money to support the library. The Licking County Library System provides staff, books and other materials and computers. We have sponsored an annual 5k/10k Walk/Run held the third weekend of June (called “The Dam Race” held at the North Shore State Park on the New Dam), hosted several Taste of Buckeye Lake nights at the library and enjoyed lots of good food, locally produced beer, wine and encouraged people in the community to become a Friend of the Library through an annual contribution.

To further expand our growth, we have raised money to create an Outdoor Learning Center. We have recently installed a beautiful screened gazebo which we plan to use as the site for lots of library events including story time for children, book reading groups for adults and other library activities.

The Friends of the Buckeye Lake Library are proud of our library and the services it provides to our community.
